What is Five By Five?

A simple goal with deep strategy.

Five By Five is a number puzzle game about creating calculations that equal exactly 25. Move numbers, choose operations, build bigger values and find scoring paths before the board fills or the timer runs out.

How to play

Drag. Calculate. Make 25.

Drag numbers

Drag from a numbered square in a straight horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. You cannot drag through another numbered square.

Choose an operation

Use +, −, × or ÷ when dragging onto another number. The first number you select starts the equation, so order matters.

Move into space

Dragging onto an empty square moves the number there, even if an operator is selected. Moving can set up better future calculations.

Score exactly 25

You score when the result is exactly 25. Larger winning values can score more because they may contain multiple 25s.

Strategy

The best move is not always the obvious one.

Keep time on the clock by making 25, but also build larger numbers, clear awkward spaces and plan several moves ahead. Sometimes a quiet move creates the next big score.

Division must produce a whole number.
Subtraction is ordered and can create zero or negative values.
Difficulty changes how quickly larger numbers appear.
Use undo when a move does not work out.

Keep your chosen operator, rotate sequentially, or let the game choose a random operator after every move.

Timed play

Make 25 to earn more time. Tap the timer to pause or resume when needed.

Challenges

Play solo or challenge friends.

Compare your score, race to 100, or see who can reach 100 in the fewest moves. Five By Five is easy to start, but hard to master.
